Hey folks, I'm Nicola Jay. I have had many roles across the arts in my little life, from gallery curator to practicing artist and more. I first picked up an analogue camera when I was 14 when my Grandad passed on his Pentax to me and I shot my first wedding on film when I was 15. I studied fine art and photography at University and learnt to develop my own negatives and images and 10 years ago I picked it back up, and started photographing people again on Digital but I never stopped loving film.
There’s something so nostalgic and timeless about analogue images and something so beautiful about being slow and selective about the frames that you want to use up in your roll. I take this method of shooting into my digital work and capture the real essence of your day just as it happened and not how I want it to look.
When I'm not photographing, I spent time outdoors with my partner. I started learning how to surf recently and that made me want to learn skateboarding! I'm hoping to get on a snowboard this year! I’m on this world for as many adventures as I can and hoping to travel the world shooting love stories.
